Site-specific playable installations

Made for your building. Played by your crowd.

Visitors play your building from their own phones. Tested over two winters at Vilnius Light Festival. Blocks has been invited to Llum BCN, Barcelona, February 2027. I founded the IŠKROVOS festival in 2014, so I know the organiser’s side too.

Every building plays differently

I start from your building: its grid, its size and where the crowd will stand.

Not just facades: the same approach works on LED screens, big TVs and projections, or as a light or sound object.

How it works for visitors

  1. Scan

A QR code near the building opens the game in the phone’s browser. No app, no download.

  2. Queue

Visitors join a live queue on their phones and watch the others play.

  3. Play

When their turn comes, the phone is the controller and the building is the screen.

What it does for a festival

A crowd in winter hats watching falling-blocks games glow in a school’s glass-block windows at night

  • A crowd that stays. At Blocks, about 80 people queued for 20–30 minutes to play.
  • More players per wall. Several games run at once: nine windows on Blocks, three courts on Ping Pong.
  • One point of contact. I do the concept, the software and the build myself, with collaborators when needed.

Terms

Price and timeline

From about €5,000. About six weeks from go-ahead to opening.

The price covers the idea for your site, the software, the phone controls and queue, testing and set-up. Not included: permits, power, projectors or screens. Travel is agreed separately.

How a commission runs

  1. Send the site. A photo of the building or the screen, the dates and the expected audience.
  2. Idea and price. I propose a piece for the site and confirm the price.
  3. Build and test. I adapt the game or object to the site and test it with real phones.
  4. Open. We set it up, run a full test, and the queue starts.

What I need from you

  • A surface: a facade, a wall or a screen, and access to set it up.
  • Power and permits for the site.
  • Good mobile coverage on site, or Wi-Fi visitors can join.
  • Room for a crowd to gather and watch.
  • Projectors, lights or screens: yours, or arranged through my contacts.

Questions

Can you bring Blocks or Ping Pong to our festival?

Yes. I adapt the work to your building, as I am doing with Blocks for Llum BCN. Ping Pong is a joint work with Aleksandr Voronovič.

Do you work outside Lithuania?

Yes. Blocks has been invited to Llum BCN, Barcelona, February 2027.

What about winter weather?

Blocks and Ping Pong both ran outdoors on winter nights at Vilnius Light Festival. Visitors need only a view of the wall and a mobile connection.
